“Objects Shaped by Time”
BolCotto is a ceramics and concrete studio working in small batches, producing series rather than traditional collections.
Rooted in material exploration, the work studies the relationship between earth, texture, memory, and human touch. Drawing on early-making traditions, each piece is shaped to feel unearthed rather than manufactured, existing between past and present.
Surfaces remain raw and tactile, often finished in matte, earth-toned treatments that preserve variation, depth, and process. Imperfections are embraced, not erased.
BolCotto continues to evolve across materials and forms, creating objects that feel both ancient and distinctly contemporary.
About Us
Cristina Cotto is an emerging artist who explores the quiet balance between chaos and calm. Working with clay and concrete, she shapes organic forms guided by texture, intuition, and the raw beauty of imperfection, pieces that feel discovered rather than made, like fragments weathered by time. Her sensitivity to art formed early and has remained constant throughout her life. From childhood, she was immersed in a world of culture and creativity: her father’s love of art, music, and learning culture, and her mother’s work in ceramics, laid a foundation of curiosity and craft.
She trained in ballet from a young age, later studied flamenco, and took guitar classes, disciplines that honed her sense of rhythm, discipline, and expressive movement. Those early studies led to formal sculpture training at the School of Fine Arts in San Juan, Puerto Rico, and later to expanded ceramics practice in the United States, where working with clay and creating through touch fully awakened her. Photography continues to shape her vision, a means of composing, observing, and capturing fleeting light and gesture.
Rooted in a deep respect for process, Cristina’s work embraces experimentation beyond any single form. While sculptural vessels and planters are central to her current explorations, her practice remains an evolving dialogue among material, structure, and presence. Now, in a more grounded and intentional stage of life, her work reflects quiet maturity and an appreciation for imperfection, silence, nature, and flow. Influenced by wabi-sabi philosophy, her forms may shift, feel unstable, or unresolved, yet they simply are. Creation for Cristina becomes a meditation, an acceptance of life’s rhythms, its highs and lows, and the beauty found in allowing things to unfold, and her deep connection to horses and guitar continues to inform her sense of form and sensitivity to presence.
