About Us
Cristina Cotto is an emerging artist exploring the quiet balance between chaos and calm. Working with clay and concrete, she creates organic forms guided by texture, intuition, and the raw beauty of imperfection, pieces that feel discovered rather than made, like fragments shaped by time.
Her sensitivity to art was formed early and has remained constant throughout her life. From childhood, she was immersed in a world of culture and creativity, deeply influenced by her father’s appreciation for art, music, and culture. She learned ballet from a young age, later explored flamenco, and also took guitar classes, all of which shaped her sense of rhythm, discipline, and expressive movement.
This lifelong exposure to the arts led her to formal studies in sculpture at the School of Fine Arts in San Juan, Puerto Rico. She later expanded her practice through ceramics in the United States, where her connection to working with clay and creating through touch fully awakened. Alongside this, photography remains a key part of her vision, a way to compose, observe, and capture fleeting moments.
Rooted in a deep respect for process, Cristina’s work embraces experimentation beyond any single form. While sculptural vessels and planters are part of her current exploration, her practice remains open, an evolving dialogue between material, structure, and presence.
Now, in a more grounded and intentional stage of her life, her work reflects a quiet maturity and an appreciation for imperfection, silence, nature, and flow. Influenced by wabi-sabi philosophy, her forms may shift, feel unstable, or unresolved, yet they simply are. In this way, creation becomes a meditation, an acceptance of life’s rhythms, its highs and lows, and the beauty found in allowing things to unfold.
